class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Lors de mon dernier article, j\u2019ai essay\u00e9 de situer la rupture entre l\u2019art dit \u00ab\u00a0classique\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_45447_1_1\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0et ce qui, depuis, le suit. Il me semble essentiel de souligner maintenant une autre fracture, peut-\u00eatre plus essentielle, qui, elle, aura codifi\u00e9 les trois si\u00e8cles qui suivent la Renaissance.<\/p><p><strong>Lorsque H. Matisse affirme : \u00ab\u00a0<em>La Renaissance c\u2019est la d\u00e9cadence \u00bb<\/em>, ce n\u2019est pas par envie de choquer.<\/strong>\u00a0Le peintre est bien conscient que la Renaissance a habill\u00e9 l\u2019art d\u2019un corset qu\u2019il est difficile de lui \u00f4ter. Il sait ce qu\u2019il en co\u00fbte que de vouloir s\u2019y employer. Mais que d\u00e9nonce-t-il?<br \/><strong>Ce qui \u00ab\u00a0rena\u00eet\u00a0\u00bb au XVI\u00a0<sup>\u00e8me\u00a0<\/sup>si\u00e8cle, c\u2019est l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9.<\/strong>\u00a0Il sera d\u00e9sormais acquis, et cela pour les trois cents ans \u00e0 venir, que seules deux \u00e9poques brillent au firmament des beaux arts, l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 et la Renaissance.<\/p><p><strong>Il s\u2019\u00e9tablit de mani\u00e8re imparable que les chefs-d\u2019\u0153uvres de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9, (comme ceux de la nature), sont parfaits<\/strong>. Ils le sont tellement qu\u2019une seule voie de cr\u00e9ation demeure possible, l\u2019imitation. Impossible de d\u00e9roger \u00e0 ce canon. Il ne s\u2019agit plus d\u2019assumer un h\u00e9ritage, de se l\u2019approprier et de l\u2019exploiter dans une perspective nouvelle. Il ne s\u2019agit plus d\u2019\u00eatre, selon l\u2019adage chr\u00e9tien,\u00a0<em>assis sur des \u00e9paules de g\u00e9ants<\/em>\u00a0pour, avec ses propres yeux, voir \u00e0 partir de cet h\u00e9ritage. Il s\u2019agit seulement de voir avec les yeux de ceux qui nous ont pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s, et de voir seulement ce qu\u2019ils ont vu ! Il ne s\u2019agit plus, sur la base d\u2019un h\u00e9ritage, de laisser sourdre quelques inventives repr\u00e9sentations qu\u2019inspirent le choc d\u2019avec le r\u00e9el et la transcendance qu\u2019il rec\u00e8le.\u00a0<strong>Il s\u2019agit de dire \u00e0 l\u2019identique, rien de plus, rien de moins !<\/strong>\u00a0L\u00e0 est le sommet vis\u00e9 : redire au mieux ce qui, d\u00e9j\u00e0, a \u00e9t\u00e9 parfaitement exprim\u00e9. La p\u00e9riode m\u00e9di\u00e9vale est d\u00e9laiss\u00e9e, per\u00e7ue comme m\u00e9diocre, obscure, grossi\u00e8re. La fascination pour la red\u00e9couverte des \u0153uvres antiques est si grande qu\u2019il devient seulement possible d\u2019en imiter la perfection.\u00a0<strong>La Renaissance engendre une fracture extr\u00eamement profonde car elle touche au processus m\u00eame de cr\u00e9ation, \u00e0 sa libert\u00e9 int\u00e9rieure, \u00e0 son essence m\u00eame. L\u2019imitation de la nature ou des \u0153uvres antiques devient le principe incontournable du renouveau artistique.<\/strong><\/p><p>Il est compr\u00e9hensible, (vu qu\u2019il ne restait alors que cela \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper), que les si\u00e8cles suivants aient vu un d\u00e9veloppement admirable de la technique et cela jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que devienne trop insupportable cette absence d\u2019\u00e2me que les \u0153uvres ont bien fini par devoir avouer. L\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 ayant r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des \u0153uvres en lesquelles, pensait-on, \u00ab\u00a0la Beaut\u00e9 s\u2019incarnait\u00a0\u00bb, (rien de moins) il ne resta plus qu\u2019\u00e0 les \u00ab\u00a0copier\u00a0\u00bb au mieux\u2026 (Notez qu\u2019\u00e0 chaque fois que l\u2019homme affirme \u00ab\u00a0d\u2019une partie\u00a0\u00bb qu\u2019elle est \u00ab\u00a0le tout\u00a0\u00bb, il sombre dans une forme de goujaterie qu\u2019il a ensuite peine \u00e0 quitter tant il la codifie, la dogmatise et par mode de r\u00e9p\u00e9tition l\u2019ing\u00e8re profond\u00e9ment.) La grande historienne du moyen-\u00e2ge, R\u00e9gine Pernoud\u00a0<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_45447_1_2\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[2]<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0, nous renseigne : \u00ab\u00a0<em>\u00c0 consulter les sources du temps, textes ou monuments, il s\u2019av\u00e8re que ce qui caract\u00e9rise la Renaissance, celle du XVI\u00a0<sup>\u00e8me\u00a0<\/sup>si\u00e8cle, et rend cette \u00e9poque diff\u00e9rente de celles qui l\u2019ont pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9e, c\u2019est qu\u2019elle pose en principe l\u2019imitation du monde classique.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_45447_1_3\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Nous voyons maintenant le lien qui s\u2019\u00e9tablit avec la rupture qui s\u2019en suit \u00e0 la fin du XIX<sup>\u00e8me\u00a0<\/sup>si\u00e8cle et au d\u00e9but du XX<sup>\u00e8me\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>si\u00e8cle et qui appara\u00eet alors comme un juste retour de balancier op\u00e9r\u00e9 par le sang de quelques artistes vibrants et forc\u00e9ment incompris par un public rompu aux codes de l\u2019antique perfection et devenu incapable de discerner les crit\u00e8res d\u2019une \u0153uvre de valeur.<\/strong>\u00a0Van Gogh, Gauguin, Soutine, Modigliani, et tant d\u2019autres seront victimes de cette incompr\u00e9hension chronique.\u00a0<strong>Ce n\u00e9cessaire renouveau sera lib\u00e9rateur mais il porte en lui-m\u00eame, d\u00e9j\u00e0, les germes de sa propre impuissance.<\/strong>\u00a0En cela Picasso \u2013 qui rivalise en capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 cr\u00e9er de la valeur mon\u00e9taire avec la Banque de France\u00a0<span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_45447_1_4\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 est, je crois, vraiment le peintre embl\u00e9matique de ce renversement. Il est important de saisir\u00a0<strong>qu\u2019\u00e0 cette p\u00e9riode s\u2019amorce l\u2019entr\u00e9e de l\u2019art dans le domaine de la sp\u00e9culation,<\/strong>\u00a0lorsque \u00ab\u00a0<em>le bourgeois fran\u00e7ais s\u2019avisa soudain qu\u2019il avait manqu\u00e9 d\u2019excellentes affaires et que l\u2019art pouvait \u00eatre aussi une valeur en portefeuille. (\u2026) En vente publique un Gauguin \u00e9tait c\u00f4t\u00e9 plus cher qu\u2019une cath\u00e9drale gothique \u00bb.<\/em>\u00a0De cela, l\u2019art du XX<sup>\u00e8me\u00a0<\/sup>si\u00e8cle ne sortira pas grandi.<\/p><p>Si l\u2019art est le reflet de son \u00e9poque, la mise en syst\u00e8me financier de l\u2019art et l\u2019incroyable sp\u00e9culation autour des chantres dudit \u00ab\u00a0art contemporain\u00a0\u00bb ne d\u00e9roge pas \u00e0 la r\u00e8gle. D\u2019une certaine mani\u00e8re, notre \u00e9poque contemple ce qu\u2019elle m\u00e9rite. Cette r\u00e9alit\u00e9 trouve son point de d\u00e9part au XIX<sup>\u00e8me\u00a0<\/sup>si\u00e8cle. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Il est tr\u00e8s significatif de constater que la faille,\u00a0<strong>la chute de l\u2019activit\u00e9 artistique correspond au moment o\u00f9 appara\u00eet, au XIX\u00a0<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup>, une conception mercantiliste de \u00ab\u00a0l\u2019objet d\u2019art\u00a0\u00bb.<\/strong>\u00a0Et il est non moins r\u00e9v\u00e9lateur que soit n\u00e9, \u00e0 la m\u00eame \u00e9poque, l&#8217;\u00a0\u00bbobjet de pi\u00e9t\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb, pitoyable d\u00e9calque du Sacr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019usage du boutiquier \u00bb\u00a0<\/em><span class=\"footnote_referrer\"><a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><sup id=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_45447_1_5\" class=\"footnote_plugin_tooltip_text\">[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/span>. Dans une impitoyable singerie, la Transcendance et le Sacr\u00e9 sont vendus \u00e0 la d\u00e9coupe\u2026<\/p><p>Il me semble cependant qu\u2019en mati\u00e8re d\u2019art, l\u2019\u00e9clatement en une inconsistance g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9e que l\u2019on constate aujourd\u2019hui, (quelques exceptions contestent heureusement ce propos), tient d\u2019une racine plus profonde. La marchandisation de l\u2019objet d\u2019art n\u2019est qu\u2019une cause interm\u00e9diaire qui masque la cause premi\u00e8re du d\u00e9sarroi.<\/p><p>Il est, \u00e0 mon sens, vain de lutter contre une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 qui d\u00e9j\u00e0 marque l\u2019histoire. Par contre, il me semble urgent de se concentrer sur la ferveur des origines en remontant \u00e0 la source. \u00c9cartant tout ce qui n\u2019est pas la source, avan\u00e7ons vers le principe \u00ab\u00a0chimiquement pur\u00a0\u00bb du processus de cr\u00e9ation artistique.<\/p><p><strong>Tout comme l\u2019imitation enferme le processus de cr\u00e9ation, le mercantilisme arrache au processus de cr\u00e9ation ce qu\u2019il a de plus pr\u00e9cieux, ce qu\u2019il a de premier et sans lequel l\u2019art n\u2019est plus art : son lien avec l\u2019\u00caTRE pr\u00e9sent<\/strong>. La gratuit\u00e9 emp\u00each\u00e9e \u00e9radique la possibilit\u00e9 m\u00eame du miracle de l\u2019art vivant.<br \/>Je laisse -et non sans une reconnaissance \u00e9mue- la grande historienne m\u00e9di\u00e9viste nous \u00e9clairer.<br \/><em>\u00ab\u00a0Durant toute la p\u00e9riode m\u00e9di\u00e9vale en effet, l\u2019art n\u2019est pas coup\u00e9 de ses origines. Nous voulons dire qu\u2019il exprime le Sacr\u00e9. Et cette liaison entre l\u2019art et le Sacr\u00e9 tient aux fibres m\u00eame de l\u2019homme dans toutes les civilisations ; les sp\u00e9cialistes de la pr\u00e9histoire nous confirment le fait, et cela d\u00e8s l\u2019apparition de l\u2019art dans les cavernes.\u00a0<strong>Toutes les races sous tous les climats, ont tour \u00e0 tour attest\u00e9 cette intime communion, cette tendance inh\u00e9rente \u00e0 l\u2019homme qui le porte \u00e0 exprimer le Sacr\u00e9, le Transcendant, dans ce langage second qu\u2019est l\u2019Art sous toutes ses formes.<\/strong>\u00a0(\u2026) Peut-\u00eatre est-ce dans cette direction qu\u2019il faut chercher le secret de cette capacit\u00e9 de cr\u00e9ation qui fait du moindre chapiteau roman, si semblable dans ses lignes \u00e0 tous les autres, si ob\u00e9issant dans sa forme \u00e0 l\u2019architecture g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l\u2019\u00e9difice, une \u0153uvre d\u2019invention ; une \u0153uvre d\u2019art si personnelle que la copie la plus fid\u00e8le, le moulage le plus exact crieront la trahison. (\u2026) Aujourd\u2019hui encore il est saisissant de voir \u00e0 quel point l\u2019impuissance artistique est li\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019absence du sacr\u00e9.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p><p><strong>Tout converge, non vers un but \u00e0 atteindre, mais vers un point de d\u00e9part d\u2019o\u00f9 na\u00eet l\u2019\u00e9lan cr\u00e9ateur.<\/strong> Ce n\u2019est pas une id\u00e9e, (encore moins une recette). Ce n\u2019est pas une affirmation de soi, c\u2019est l\u2019affirmation d\u2019une Transcendance pr\u00e9sente dans l\u2019objet, d\u2019un lien Sacr\u00e9 reconnu. L\u00e0 est le point de d\u00e9part, ce point est relation. C\u2019est pour cela qu\u2019il lib\u00e8re une telle puissance cr\u00e9atrice, qu\u2019il est \u00e0 m\u00eame d\u2019actualiser l\u2019\u0153uvre d\u2019art dont il est le v\u00e9ritable protagoniste.\u00a0Cette saisie de relation entre \u00ab\u00a0ce qui est descriptible ici et maintenant\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0ce qui est de toujours et de partout\u00a0\u00bb est la source de l\u2019inspiration nouvelle et le crit\u00e8re sur lequel se brise, tout au long de la r\u00e9alisation, ce qui ne doit pas entrer dans l\u2019\u0153uvre.
